I was thinking today of my brother scientists, those who weren’t in the basement (like me) when the brains were handed out.
For years, Evolution, and the survival of the fittest seemed like a perfectly good explanation for life on the planet. It could safely be assumed that some of the discrepancies would eventually be worked out.
From their lofty ivory towers, they could safely disdainfully dismiss the unscientific efforts of the Creationists along with the Biblical Historical version of who we are.
Unfortunately for them, and fortunately for us, the discovery of DNA dissolved the rock on which their tower was erected. (See Chapter 14 – Evolution – posted November 28 2011)
Now some of those talented scientists had at least a modicum of Humility in their makeup. They were more interested in finding the truth, than in maintaining their reputation and prestige. Even when their fellow researchers ridiculed them they would not “repent”.
I shudder to think of the fate of the proud disdainers when the sheep/goat division takes place. Their refusal to face the truth revealed by DNA (which they, of all people, are uniquely qualified to understand) has resulted in the weakening of the faith of millions of people (who had to somehow hold on to their belief in spite of science telling them that they were just the result of accidental mutations).
What a close call I had! With my strong desire for recognition, if my dreams hadn’t been shattered in that college philosophy class, (see Chapter ONE – EARLY LIFE) I’d probably be on the wrong side of the divide along with them.
